The Tree Lives Inside The Acorn

The power of the intuitive voice

Here’s a little story that changed the course of my life.

Today is my 20 year wedding anniversary.

I wasn’t supposed to go out that night, but serendipity happened and 22 years ago we met at Tank, a night club in Sydney.

He was supposed to meet me on a blind date.

But we met anyway.

When he asked me 'what do you do?' and I answered, he then joined the dots and realised I was the girl he was meant to meet on that blind date that never happened.

The next evening we went out on a date at the Blue Water Restaurant in Manly.  As we walked, his arm around my shoulders, I remember loving it but skipping as I couldn't keep up with the cadence of his long legs.

Over dinner we told each other that it didn't feel like our first date.  It felt like we'd already known each other.  He then told me that he thought his Mum sent me from outer space.

And the rest is a wonderful history!

A few days ago a new connection I made on Facebook asked me if I’d used my intuition.  For the past 25 years I have.

Every life-altering decision occurred because my intuition has been my most trusted advisor - from deciding to continue with a pregnancy with a very sick baby who passed 11 days after he was born and was the catalyst that changed my life forever, to meeting my husband on the night I wasn’t supposed to go out, to having a complete career change that lead me to coaching, to who I coach, to where we go in our conversations, to the profound transformation that happens for all as a result, to my parenting, to who I am as a daughter of an elderly widowed Mum.

In a world that bases its success on strategy, the most powerful strategy to living a happy, authentic and purposeful life comes from within.

It’s called intuition.

Everybody has the ability to lead from their intuition, but in a world that values the evidence seeking machine of our ego, it’s easy to turn our backs on the nudges of the intuitive voice.

So here I am, offering a joyful little tap on my 20 year wedding anniversary to remind you of the power of those intuitive whispers that hold the unseen intelligence of the tree in the acorn.
