What Season of Leadership Are You In?
Knowing that will make all the difference
In leadership we are fed by different seasons, just like the cycles of nature. When we are present to the season we are in, we can deliberately work with its particular life-force that is here to grow our leadership and its impact, naturally and organically. And when we’re not conscious of the particular life-force that is nourishing us, our leadership can instead have the energy of resistance, push, pull, stress, anxiety, worry, overwhelm and boredom.
I’ve written this article inspired by the season I find myself in, trusting that you’ll identify the season that is growing you.
Some seasons we are asked to take a step back and go quiet. The focus is inward, this period being one of reflection, observation, awareness, gratitude and shedding. Action towards the new is not required because vision is not seeded in this season. In fact this season is not about vision, but rather a time of exhalation and appreciation for the fruits of earlier labour, of who we have been and what has already resulted. This is a time of rest and reflection and letting go of the old to make space for the impending new, just like the seasons of Autumn and Winter.
Following this season of rest, appreciation and letting go, is a season of renewal. Just like Spring brings new life, shoots that were forming unseen below ground now begin to show themselves. The air is clean and fresh, and we breath in possibility borne from our intuition that sprouts new ideas, inspiration and vision. This is a time of germination, of laying down foundations, of new beginnings and nurturing potential with patience and love, preparing for future growth and fruition.
Following this season of new possibility is a season of re-birth, a time where the sun shines brightly, where ideas, inspiration and vision that were seeded in Spring are brought to the world in full light. It is a time where we go forth and create, where ‘we come out’ and show ourselves and allow our voice to be heard far and wide. This is a time of momentum, abundance, vitality, connection, collaboration, happiness and the many ripples of impact that the season of Summer offers. Let’s call this season the Season of Abundant Creation. It is this season that I wish to focus on in this article.
How do you know that you’re in The Season of Abundant Creation?
Firstly, whether through force or choice, you have rested, reflected and shed through your Autumn and Winter seasons. Then you’ve breathed in new possibility that comes with Spring. New vision, inspiration and ideas have been playing with you.
And you are now ready.
Whether you are on the door step or right in amongst this Season of Abundant Creation -
You feel it in your stomach, your power centre. It feels strong and solid.
You feel it in your heart. Your heart feels moved by what your intuition has shown you. It feels inevitable that what you’ve seen will be earthed.
And if you’re especially present to your body’s responses, you may even feel it in your third eye (in between your eyebrows) and crown (top of your head). If you do feel it here, you’ll feel a sense of connection to the quantum field of all possibility, to the formless that urges to become form and to the organising intelligence of the Universe. It’s like you know the Universe has got your back.
Secondly, life will give you evidence.
Serendipitous conversations and opportunities will emerge, ones that come out of the blue, unexpectedly and delightfully.
When you speak to what you see with others, its resonance is obvious. Firstly in you, it flows through you and secondly in others. They not only ‘get’ what you’re saying but they are drawn in and impacted by your vision.
Results of all kinds show up, thick, thin and fast. Be mindful that ‘results’ come in many forms, and not just the obvious ones. The more you can appreciate the wins that come in different packages, and especially the ones that you weren’t expecting and perhaps judged negatively, the greater the quality of result you’ll receive.
What does this Season of Abundant Creation require from you?
It asks you to say 100% yes. To seize it. To claim it. To execute it.
It asks you to be super present and to go where the energy wants to move you. For example, I did not expect to write this article today. I had other ‘priorities’ planned. However when I meditated this morning, this is what turned up to be presenced, and so I did, and here we have an article that I had no plan to write.
As noted above, it asks us to follow the yellow brick road of our intuition. Why? Because we find breadcrumbs on that yellow brick road that lead us to the fruition of our vision, perhaps not in the way that we’d ‘planned’, as per my example today, but with greater creative intelligence.
It asks you to stand tall, unconditionally, and taller than you have so far, because the people who this vision is for have asked you to do so, so they can too.
It asks you to be in your unapologetic and uncompromising leadership, once again, regardless of the circumstance.
It asks you to go forth and create with focus, gusto, connection and immediacy.
And so it can grow in abundance what it seeks to bring to the world, beyond what you even consciously know, it asks you to surrender, and surrender and surrender again.
What gets in the way and stumps this Season of Abundant Creation?
Non-commitment, distraction and negotiation. In other words ‘drama’.
What are the underlying causes of this ‘drama’?
🌟 Undeservedness
Solution 👉 Be fiercely fucking deserving.
🌟 The non Double D Bra size of Doubt and Distrust
Solution 👉 This vision appeared before your eyes because it wants you as its custodian. If you don’t claim it, someone else will.
🌟 Shyness, embarrassment and apology
Solution 👉 Sometimes it feels ‘audacious’ to bring new vision to the world. If it does, naming your humanity to others with love and kindness and even saying that it feels audacious to do so will give you permission to move.
🌟 Blame and toxicity
Solution 👉 The humility to take 100% personal responsibility for your current reality and to see through the eyes of love will allow you to see what is actually here that is entirely connected to bringing the abundance of this vision into life - perhaps not in the way that you initially thought but always with so much more authenticity and wholeness.
The big solution 👉 No matter what season you are in ask for help. We’re not meant to do it alone.
